I am Debbie, the founder of Signing Hands.
I am excited to be announcing that from June 2026 I will be available to offer Individual Sessions for children with language delay in the Perth Area.
Signing Hands has primarily offered classes for small groups of children, generally 4-8 in a group. For some children, however, even one or two other children can be too distracting and so learning is disrupted.
In response to the growing demand for individual sessions I have decided to make this option available for families from June 2026.
I had almost 20 years experience as a primary teacher in the UK before setting up Signing Hands in Perth in 2006. I am very epxerienced at tailoring activities to each child's specific needs and, with a wealth of resources at my disposal, will be able to work on any specific areas of language development that are most at need for your family.
The signs taught will be Auslan (Australian Sign Language) taught using the Key Word Signing Method. Focussing on the most important words first and then introducing more diverse groups of signs as your child progresses.
The sessions will either be held at my office in Mundaring or in your own home if travel and time permit. (Additional travel costs will apply).
NDIS funding may well cover the cost of these sessions for you, many of the current students in my group classes are able to claim. This can all be discussed prior to commencement.
